Re: BC Ferries Route 10 Services

At the April 19, 2002, meeting of the Kitimat-Stikine Regional Board, letters were received from you and from Bob Lingwood, BC Ferries President, on cancellation of October sailings on Route 10. Our dissatisfaction with this abrupt change in the ferry schedule is not alleviated by the comments in either letter.

There is also reference to improving consultation with stakeholders and community representatives. We would strongly support such an initiative, especially since a BC Ferries North Coast Stakeholders Committee was dismantled by the corporation. We ask the Minister and, in a separate letter, BC Ferries, when will this consultation occur and who will be involved? We also expect that this Regional District and the other communities of the north coast will be included in this consultation.
