Any driver
racing that day may protest against another car in their class, racing that day,
which he/she believes may be running illegally.
- Protests must be completed
and handed to a Track Official within 30 minutes of the completion of the day's
last race.
- Protest forms will be
available at the pit board.
- Results of a protest will
be made known at the next general meeting.
- The protested car will
be impounded after the race day so a teardown may be done.
- Teardowns will be done
at a mutually agreed-upon location.
- Teardowns must be attended
by one owner or designated person from the protested car, the protester, and the
Tech Crew. No others are allowed.
- There will be a protest
fee of $100 which will be held by a Track Official until the completion of the
teardown. If the car is found legal the $100 fee goes to the car owner. If the
car is found to be illegal the $100 fee is returned to the protester. A sealed
engine may be protested. However if any seal is to be broken, the protest fee
will be $300 with the same conditions as above. If a sealed engine is found to
be legal the protester will pay the $25 resealing fee as well.
- The protester must specify
whether he/she is protesting the car's engine or the rest of the car. The $100
fee is for either the engine or the rest of the car, but not for both.
- If the car is found to
be illegal all drivers of that car will lose all points and trophies earned on
that race day. If the same car is found to be illegal a second time in that season
the drivers will lose all their points for the entire season and will disqualified
from the running for any year-end or other major trophies.
- A protested car's driver
has 15 minutes from the time the protest is brought to his/her attention to counter-protest
the protester's car.
- Cars torn down will be
inspected thoroughly, however if something is overlooked or not caught during
a teardown, do not assume that everything is necessarily legal. If a car is torn
down a second time, the results of the first teardown will have no bearing on
the second.
- Cars breaking the track
record will be automatically torn down by the Tech Crew and engine seals will
be checked.
- FUEL PROTEST (voted in
at Aug 5/99 General Meeting): A driver racing that day can protest the fuel of
another car in the same class. There will be a $50 protest fee, $15 of which is
to cover the cost of testing chemicals and equipment. The other $35 is for the
teardown. If the fuel is found to be legal, the protested car gets the $35. If
the fuel is found to be illegal, the protester gets the $35. Penalties are the
same as any other protest.
